Axle Energy (VPP) - £1 per kWh

Earn £1 per kWh from your battery… seriously
If you’ve already got solar and a battery, you’re sitting on more potential than you probably realise.
Because now, it’s not just about saving money… it’s about making it too.
That’s where Axle Energy comes in.
So what actually is it?
In simple terms, Axle lets your battery earn money by helping the grid when it’s under pressure.
At certain times, usually when demand spikes, the grid needs extra power. Instead of firing up expensive, dirty generators, they tap into home batteries like yours.
And when yours chips in, you get paid.
Up to £1 per kWh exported during these events.
What does that look like in real life?
Let’s keep it practical.
You’ve got a battery sat there, often full by late afternoon.
An event kicks in.
Your battery exports a chunk of energy to the grid for an hour or so…
And you get paid for every unit.
No complicated setup. No manual switching. No faffing about.
Just your system doing its thing in the background.
“Do I lose control of my battery?”
Short answer: no.
You’re still in charge.
Axle only steps in during specific grid events. Outside of that, your battery behaves exactly how you’ve set it up.
There’s even an option to keep full control and only participate in those events, nothing else.
“Will this mess with my tariff or SEG payments?”
Nope. It sits on top of everything you already have.
The best bit? You get your export rate on top of the £1.
Your current tariff stays the same. Your export payments stay the same.
This is just extra.
How much can you actually earn?
This is where people get a bit excited… and a bit unrealistic.
So here’s the transparent answer:
You’ll earn £1 per kWh during events
There’s a guaranteed minimum £10/month
Typically £120 - £480 PA
Actual earnings depend on:
Your battery & inverter size
How often events happen
Your location
Some months will be quiet. Others, especially in winter, can be very worthwhile.
What do you need?
Nothing fancy. Just:
A compatible battery (SigEnergy works perfectly)
A smart meter
And, ideally, solar to keep things topped up
That’s it.
No extra hardware. No complicated installs.
It's just software, not extra physical kit.
Why this actually matters
This isn’t just about making a few quid.
It’s part of a bigger shift.
The UK grid is under more pressure than ever, especially as we move away from fossil fuels. Programmes like this help balance demand using energy that’s already sitting in homes.
Cleaner, smarter. And now… profitable.
Our summary (and sign up link)
If you’ve got a battery and you’re not using something like this, you’re leaving money on the table.
It won’t make you rich overnight, but it’s one of the easiest ways to squeeze more value out of a system you’ve already paid for.
And we’re all for that.
